Ambulatory Home Sleep Studies

Home Sleep Study Procedures

  • Appointments are scheduled at 3:30pm and 4pm Monday to Friday.

Prior to your appointment, ensure that you have a shower as you will be unable to the night of your study. Please feel free to use soap and antiperspirant deodorant as per normal, just refrain from using foundation, face creams or moisturisers as this will prevent our electrodes from adhering to your skin. You may wear a singlet or something comfortable to sleep in and a loose or button up shirt over the top. For the ladies, it is recommended that you refrain from wearing a bra with underwire as you will be required to sleep in it. You are more than welcome to wear a bra to the shop and remove it when we perform your set up.

Please compile a list of the names of any regular medications that you take and ensure you have your Medicare card.

Our Home Sleep Studies are covered by Medicare with a gap fee of $50, payable at the time of your appointment. If you are not covered by Medicare, you will be required to pay the full fee for your study.

  • What Happens When You Have A Home Sleep Study?

Our Home Sleep Study Recorders consist of two devices. Using a single velcro band we strap these to your chest (for women they are placed just under the breasts) and adhere eight small electrodes to your forehead, face and chest. You will be responsible for placing an oximeter on your finger and a nasal cannula on your face before going to sleep.

The equipment will need to be returned to us the following morning by 10am so that we may download your data and send it off for evaluation. Please note that a friend or family member may return the equipment on your behalf if necessary.

  • Our Business Hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday / 9am to 12pm Saturday.
Results are generally available within 7 to 14 business days. Once the report is available we will call to inform you that we have received your results and forward the reports through to your doctor.
